Neighborhood Associations Standing With Us

The homeowners associations directly adjacent to the proposed site have formally opposed the quarry and industrial complex. These are the neighborhoods whose residents would live closest to 80–100 years of blasting, heavy truck traffic, and industrial operations.

Our subdivision is under 2 miles from the proposed quarry and industrial development. All residents in our subdivision are on wells and many also have geothermal wells for heating and cooling. We risk losing our water source and water contamination. Many of our residents are elderly and we also have young families with children who will be impacted by the air pollution. Also concerned about traffic and the impact of the rail spur with trains causing backups at the RR tracks with first responders not being able to get to the hospital.

As President of the Saratoga Park Community Association I am speaking for our Board of Directors and our community when I say we strongly oppose the proposed quarry project on Homestead Road. As a Board of Directors we have polled our association and have not received a single response in the support of the quarry project. Every response, representing a majority of our membership, was opposed!

Reasons cited included, health concerns, noise, increased traffic, silica dust, harm to our children’s health just by attending school, negative impacts to residents seeking healthcare at local medical facilities and hospitals, declining property values and structural damage to homes in our area among others.

We have only heard how The Heritage Group intends to mitigate these negative impacts but we have yet to hear one positive impact or benefit to our community. This is an ill-conceived project and the re-zoning should not be approved by our planning commission, the County Council or any other voting entity.

STOP THIS PROJECT FROM BEING PUSHED ON OUR COMMUNITY!

— Victor P. Kaminski, President, Saratoga Park Community Association
